Where are you from?
I'm from right here in the Yakima Valley. I grew up on a cherry farm in Granger then went to college in Iowa. After college I moved to western Washington and was there for five years. Last year I moved to Pasco, and this summer moved here to Sunnyside.
What was your school like growing up?
I went to a Christian school that had small class sizes which made it easy to connect with classmates and teachers. My school was a lot like Sunnyside Christian...actually it was Sunnyside Christian! My K-12 education was right here at SCS. In fact my 10 year high school reunion is coming up in a couple of weeks. Shout out to the class of 2006!
Why do you like teaching?
I like teaching because I love helping students learn something new. I love those "light-bulb" moments when a concept finally clicks. I like knowing that I get to be a part of someone's life and then watch to see how God guides them after they leave my classroom.
What do you like to do when you aren't teaching?
I'm pretty low-key. I like to read and watch movies. I enjoy visiting and spending time with friends and family, playing games or just hanging out.
What's your favorite Bible story and why?
I love the story of Joseph (Genesis 37-50). I find it very encouraging to see how God can work through any situation and that if we are patient and trust in Him, even when things don't make sense to us, God can see the big picture and has it all in control.
What's your favorite snack?
I like pretty much anything involving chocolate...except chocolate covered fruit. I like chocolate, I like fruit, I just don't like them together.
